Industrial Electronics Department of Chernihiv State Technological University is the department providing training of students in “Electronic Devices and Systems”. IE Department was founded in 1989.

The teachers of IE Department

The first graduation of electronic engineers took place in 1992, and since then more than 500 engineers specialising in “Electronic Systems” or “Electronic Devices and Systems” have been working both in Ukraine and abroad.

Nowadays 10 teachers work at the department. Among them 1 PhD, professor and 6 PhDs, associate professors. The department is headed by PhD, professor Denysov Yuriy Oleksandrovych.

The course of studying for bachelor degree is 4 years, after that a graduate can continue training for specialist degree (1 year) or master degree (1 year). The subjects for students in “Electronic devices and systems” include all directions necessary to a modern electronic engineer. Among them:

  • Programming and Computing
  • Electronic Components
  • Circuitry Engineering
  • Transforming
  • Microprocessor Engineering and Programmable Logic
  • Industrial Automation and Control Systems
  • Designing of Electronic Radio Equipment and Automated Design Systems

Students master electronics using up-to-date equipment produced by world-known producers - Atmel, Microchip, NXP (microcontrollers), Texas Instruments (signaling processors), Altera (programmable logical integrated circuits), Analog Device (analog microchips).

In addition modern repair-erection equipment (soldering units, thermdriers etc.) as well as measuring devices (oscilographs, generators, multimeter instruments) are widely used.

Prize-winning places taken at all-Ukrainian and international competitions, particularly – the third place personally and as a team, indicate the high quality of training.

While studying students of IE department get practical skills undergoing a training at the enterprises of Chernihiv and the region. The best students are engaged to part-time work at the IE department (as lab-assistants, engineers). Master students work as engineers within research projects conducted at the department.

The department runs a course “Young Electrical Engineer”, where senior school pupils can get initial knowledge in electronic and get prepared to the studying at university.

But students remember about rest as well. Meetings, excursions, sport competitions (football, cycle races) are held regularly. Both students and teachers of the department take part in them.

The practical class is being conducted
by associate professor Oleksandr Anatoliovych Velihorskyi

Most of the graduates of the department work at the enterprises specialising in electronic systems design, introduction of process modern automation systems, in the scope of communications and telecommunications. Among our graduates there are directors of enterprises and companies (Company “Incom”, BC “Terra”), key specialists (group of companies “Osnova”, public corporation “Ukrtelecom”, multisectoral enterprise “Atilos”, public corporation “Maltiurop”, SUN “InBev”, public corporation “CheZaRa”, company “Svyaztekhservis”), teaching staff of this university, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, entrepreneurs, well-known programmers, bankers. The level of training allows our graduates to get jobs not only in Ukraine but also abroad.

The resent development is the research of the most actual problems of modern power electronics - the use of AI principles (neuron nets, fuzzy logic) to provide improvement of electric energy transducer behaviour, particularly hybrid filters, voltage changers and automatic electric drive.

Taking into consideration the need of engineers in the regional and all-Ukrainian labour market it is planned to open a new specialisation – «Electronic Systems of Telecommunications».
