On January 24 Rector of Chernihiv State Technological University Prof. S. Shkarlet had a meeting with Prime Minister M. Azarov. They were discussing a new version of the law ‘About Higher Education’. Serhii Mykolaiovych shared his thoughts about the correspondence of the new version of the law to today’s realia in the newspaper ‘Holos Ukrainy’.

Fourth year students of FEIT Fedorchenko Bohdan and Suprun Viacheslav successfully passed correspondence stage of the V-th International Competition in the Field of Information Technologies “IT-Planet 2011”.

Fedorchenko Bohdan is taking part in programming competition Oracle Database Olympic and Suprun Viacheslav – in competition Oracle Java Olympic.

On February 2, 2012 they are expected to take part in the next stage of the competition in Kyiv.

Here are the results of applying and registration of works for the sixth competitive selection – 2011/2012 established by Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Zavtra.UA scholarship programme.

14 students of CSTU came to the second stage of the competition.

The results of this stage will be published after February 10, 2012.

Based on the results of written report grading, that was held by the investment market professionals, the following 5 university Teams received highest grades and would compete at the Ukrainian Finals for the opportunity to represent Ukraine at the CFA Institute Regional Finals in London: Chernihiv State Technological University, Kharkiv National University of Economics, Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Kyiv School of Economics, National University of "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy".

On December 23-24, 2011 the International scientific conference ‘Modernization aspects of human potential forming in the civil service system’ will take place in Chernihiv State Technological University. Welcome to participate.

On December 14, 2011 Chernihiv State Technological University took part in the parliamentary hearings on the subject: ‘Sponsorship of the development of software industry in Ukraine’ that took place in the hall of plenary meetings of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The meeting was organized by the committee of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on matters of science and education with the participation of the committees of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on matters of industrial and regulatory policy and entrepreneurship, on matters of finance, banking, tax and customs policy.

On December 9, 2011 the event ‘Human Library’ was held in Chernihiv State Technological University. It was a part of the project of the Mission of the International Migration Agency in Ukraine together with the State Committee of Ukraine on matters of nationalities and religions and East European Institute of Development, with financial support of US State Department.

The main objective of the project is popularization of cultural variety and forming of positive attitude of 16-22 year-old young Ukrainians to migrants, foreigners and national minorities in Ukraine. It can be achieved by holding all-Ukrainian campaign aimed to increase people’s awareness and by including the event ‘Human Library’ in extramural activities.

The team of postgraduates – representatives of faculty of Economics and faculty of Management and Entrepreneurship - successfully passed to the following stage of all-Ukrainian phase of International competition "CFA Research Challenge" 2011.

On December 14, 2011 the department of Information and Computer Systems of CSTU held the workshop on the subject: "GOOGLE SUMMER OF CODE. EXPECTATIONS AND RESULTS".

GOOGLE SUMMER OF CODE is an initiative program by Google company, which annually selects projects having open code. Students can participate. The winners are paid cash grants.

The students of ICS department that have experience of work with open projects and are ready to share it took part in the workshop.

From November 30 to December 2 the International scientific conference ‘Research work together with modern information computer technologies - the main factor of innovative development of high school’ was held in Sumy State University.

More than 120 leaders from 65 universities, institutes and colleges of Ukraine, Byelorussia, Poland, Russia and Germany took part in its work.

Chernihiv State Technological University was represented by first vice-rector, PhD in Sciences, Professor Skorobohatova V.I. and the vice-rector of scientific work, PhD in Sciences, Professor Kazymyr V.V.

On November 29 – 30, 2011 a theoretical and practical workshop ‘State policy of Electronic Governing Implementation’ was held by Chernihiv State Technological University under the auspices of Civil Service National Agency of Ukraine.

Professors of the university, day-time and part-time master students specializing in ‘Civil Service’, people in charge of information-computer support of local administrations took part in work of the seminar.

Since November 21 листопада, 2011 the teachers of Industrial Electronics department of CSTU Velihors’ky O.A., Zarovs’ky R.V. and Khomenko M.A. have been having a study course in Glyndŵr University, Great Britain.

The course takes place within a special program of Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine. Leading foreign universities are involved in this program.

Participate in All-Ukrainian contest of students’ research works on humanities and sciences.

The works are examined at the departments (deadline – January 10, 2012) and then can be accepted by scientific-research department (deadline January 13, 2012).

On November 17 – the International Students’ Day – 20 students of Chernihiv State Technological University won a honorary title.

The contest “University’s pride” was founded in CSTU in 2010 by Student Council.

The best students were identified in the nominations: “Excellent Student”, “Public Figure”, “Creative Person”, “Sports Achievements”.

On November 8 – 11, 2011 the 8-th International Festival of Students Creative Work “We’re together” was held in Briansk State Technological University.

CSTU delegation took part in it. The delegation was headed by the Dean of the Faculty of Economics Serhii Tsybulia. Ermolenko Yulia, Kostyreva Oleksandra and Lysenko Vitalina won prizes.

Within the festival the head of the delegation S. Tsybulia had task meetings with the university administration of BSTU, its Deans, heads of departments and students activists. They discussed cooperation in the fields of training, scientific activity, cultural exchanges etc according to the signed agreement.

On November, 11-13 2011 the International forum ‘Integrated European Space of Higher Education: Students’ Vector’ was held. It was organized by All-Ukrainian Student Council together with Student Council of Volyn’ region and Student Council of Volyn’ Lesia Ukrainka National University. The head of Student Council of CSTU Zavhorodnia Natalia and a representative of а Student Council of CSTU Petrov Evhen were delegates.

In October 2011 the III All-Ukrainian congress of educationalists ‘About the State of Education in Ukraine and National Strategy of Development of Education in Ukraine in 2012-2021’ took place. Rector of CSTU, PhD in Economics, Professor S. Shkarlet was a delegate of the congress. He represented not only our University but also Chernihiv region as a deputy of regional council.

He shared his opinion about achievements and problems of education in the newspaper ‘Desnians’ka Pravda’.

Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund announces the start of the Sixth Innovative Intellect of Ukraine All-Ukrainian Youth Contest. Young researchers, entrepreneurs, and socially active people caring about Ukraine’s future and aged under 35, are invited to participate.

The competition will have four nominations:
• Applied research on social and economical themes (suggested by organizers).
• Business ideas.
• Social projects.
• Students’ Essays scholarly paper.

On November, 9 Ukraine celebrates Ukrainian Language Day. It was established in 1997 by a decree of the President. This holiday is annually celebrated in honor of the Ukrainian chronicler Nestor – the follower of Slavic written language creators Kiril and Mefodii.

It is the day that marks the beginning of Petro Yatsyk competition for Ukrainian language experts. Annually students of CSTU take part in it and almost always win its regional stage. Hope to see our students among the winners this year as well.

Chernihiv regional newspaper ‘Desnians’ka Pravda’ of October, 27 published the exclusive interview given by the Minister of Education and Science, Youth and Sport of Ukraine Dmytro Tabachnyk to Chernihiv journalists.

In the interview the Minister particularly noted the high level of training provided by CSTU, active introduction of new directions of training and almost hundred-per-cent employment of its graduates.
